New member...Hello.
« on: May 28, 2013, 02:15:45 PM »
Hi everybody,
I have been lucky enough to get a Getaway High Speed 2 machine.

Been playing with it a bit finding out how it goes together and what it needs. Awesome that I have the manual and plenty of electronics knowledge to help me.

Needs:
-Rubber kit. What is the original colour?
-Cleaning. Started already... see pics...
-Leg adjusters.
-Playfield lamp windows adjusted/repaired. Some are proud of the surface.
-glass trim replaced, main bit falls off.
-To be played.

Any advice/tips would be great.
Simon

I own a hs2 great game, the original rubber colour is white. White rubber is regarded as better by most pinheads as it has better 'bounce' but is harder to keep clean, a quick wipe over with wax will clean white rubber as good as new.
For your inserts heat up from behind with a hair dryer and push up or down with a flat piece of wood on the top of the playfield as a guide to your height, you can then glue them from under the playfield to stop them moving again
As for cleaning Novus 2 is the best and after clean you should apply a good quality pure Carnauba wax like Mothers brand. Wax on, wax off   ^^^

Welcome Simon...  $.$

HS2 is a very addictive game....Be sure to read up about the 'cheat mode', when you see a certain number of cop cars at the diner, move the shifter the required times and away you go!!

Well white is certainly the best colour.  You can get different colours of the rubbers posts (aka Cliffy posts as I call em) which complement the game nicely.  http://www.rtbb.com.au has plenty.  Its cheaper to buy the individual rubbers rather than the so called 'kits' on eBay.  There should be the quantities in the manual and where they go.  Always add 2 or so of each as I've never found one which is correct!!

Leg levelers - always best to put new ones on as they save damaging your floor.  Again Greg has those at a good price http://www.rtbb.com.au ...

Glass trim - not sure which bit you mean.  Can you take a photo of the area and then we can point you in the right direction...

Make sure to check the balls as well.  If they are pitted or rusty, throw them out and get new ones...

$.$ Simon and  %)% To Aussie Pinball !

Original rubber color is white. Lazy operators changed them to black so they didn't have to replace or clean them. Black rubbers are also dull and tend to slow gameplay.

Greg has everything you need. I recommend his parts and use them on my restorations  ^^^

Hi Simon,

Would you mind sharing how much you paid for your Getaway? I'm happy for you to PM if you'd rather not share that info in public.

I've just joined the forums and I'm hoping to find a Getaway as my first machine too. I'm not really sure how much I should be paying.

Thanks.
