Pinballs in AMF Bowling centres-starting in Melbourne
« on: July 05, 2014, 10:36:47 AM »
Hi guys just thought I'd give a heads up for an operator who's getting pinball out and hopefully helping to attract new players :-)

I've copied his write up below:

"After long term negotiations i started to install 2 pinballs in the AMF bowling centres today
starting with watergardens and clayton - the rest will follow in time as we go along

each centre will get 2 or 3 sterns  “no B/W” the pins will range from pro, premium and LE

my aim is to have the best/nicest and latest machines from all stern titles with weekly maintenance done
to keep them looking and playing good - price is set at $2 5 balls

i'll be listing the pinballs each centre is getting as i put them in

water gardens has AC/DC and Met pro
clayton is getting Met Prem and ST Prem on monday"

Great news Peter, thanks for the heads up. I've been into a couple of AMF bowling centres in Melbourne and Sydney is the past hoping to find a Pin or two with out luck. Good to see this is about to change.

FYI:
I've seen in the past year that "Timezone" (forest hill/shopping centre) has 2-3 pinnies in it, i'm not sure if all Timezones are the same as this, but maybe there's some interest coming back into these places?
Maybe too many old guys ask the front desk "hey, where's the pinnies gone?" and it's enough to prompt management to re-install some pins now.

Timezone don't use coins anymore, you buy a cash-card (like a credit card) at the counter, and swipe it on the machine to begin the game (and deduct credit off your card).
The card swipe units are installed on the front of the coindoors, i guess the wiring runs thru the old coinslot to get into the credit switch contacts...
When you card runs out, just goto the counter and add some more cash onto it.....you can keep the card (if it's not empty) or just return the empty at the counter as they're not linked to your personal details or name etc etc...

Worth a look..

Good to see someone is trying to get pinball back into the mainstream. Now if they can just get the next generation interested pinball has some hope.

Add a ticket dispenser from AMD and offer free games/discounts for a game of bowling on the tickets.

Win/Win.
