Never played it but I want it
« on: February 01, 2014, 12:01:17 AM »
Looks like i'll be in the market for a new machine soon and as usual when I'm in this situations the wheels in my head are spinning.
My situation is that I am limited for room and can really only have a maximum of 4 machines at one time or at a real stretch I could squeeze in five. What this means is that I usually keep my machines for  between 1 and 3 years depending on how much I enjoy them then move them on when I'm ready for a change.
Got me thinking that pretty much all the machines that i have owned I have brought on a whim from what I have heard or read or if the look or theme of a game appeals to me. In fact I can not remember a single game other than Terminator 2 that I have owned that I can remember playing prior to buying it. Funny thing is Terminator 2 was the game that I enjoyed the least and moved on the fastest other than that I have no regrets.
If all the stars align I do hope to one day own a Paragon which is a machine I remember playing from my childhood but that's about it.
Anyway I have decided that my next adventure will be a Capcom Break Shot or a Stern Spider man both of which I have never played.
Is it just me or there others out there?

Me too. Bought a Monopoly, Gilligan's Island and Space Station. On a whim, still have them all.
Never never sell my GI though - best game ever  ^^^
If it isn't broke, it isn't pinball.

I'd never played a DMD game in the wild so all my DMD were bought on reputation or a whim

I find now i am more interested in an era rather than a particular game
So just sit back and wait for something interesting to come up

Yep ,
Out of the 14 pins I've owned so far only ever played 2 of them back in the arcade days (that I can remember anyway) , and still have both of those.
Have had Firepower for about 6 years now .. awesome game that I can't see myself ever parting with . Black Hole is a project I am currently working on .
I need more room ! and more $$$

All but four of my collection of 17 games are games that i played a lot of back in the day and enjoyed playing.

Flash, Pinball Pool and Black Pyramid are games that i only got to play once or twice on location but i really liked, hence why i have them now.

My Zac Universe was bought on a whim, just because it was there to be had and probably gets played the least out of all my games.

I remember playing all the games in my personal collection. I collected them as they remind me of the "good old days", or they are simply brilliant players.

One game I MUST HAVE is a GTB "Rocket Ship". Since digging into the past, I found out this was part of the first shipment of Pinballs to Australia. I can't remember playing it. I don't care how it plays, it will be a sentimental decision.

Spiderman is an obvious choice as it is a great game by Stern before the cutbacks.

Breakshot is a brilliant game. Set out like and EM with good rules and humor. I VERY underrated title.

Play Spiderman before you buy it. Only cause people want more $$ than I think its worth. A lot have been sited n played to death.
Try and buy a HUO and pay a little extra if u can find one with the original or 2nd HUO owner....play it first I reckon....

Re your question, I played only one game that I own, B4 buying it, and it was when I was 8 yrs of age. I had one game on it only (actually only a few balls that were left on the machine before the big kids came back in)..Phoenix 1978. Never played or even saw another pinny til apx 5 yrs ago. Then I started collecting like crazy.

Then Phoenix was apx game no 35 along the 55 ish list before I even found one to buy off another member). Still have it for a total resto to make it like brand new. It plays fine now, but sentimental reasons will make me make it like new soon. Found a better backglass and another excellent populated playfield for not much money. Will make a real nice one. It was originally a german delivered machine.

Of the other 45 ish plus machines I own, (bought apx 55 and sold apx 10 mostly cause they/some were doubles) I just bought from looking at
Internet Pinball Data Base photos, or youtube videos of people playing them. Looking at original pinball flyers was also fun to help buying.
