Technically, the 'complete set' is 4 books which includes "the electromechanical era" edition.

I guess we still have to wait 10-20 yrs before he publishes the "2000's" edition *if* he thinks it's worth doing due to lack of machine numbers......

True that  *%* he was supposed to be doing a fifth book; "the solid state era" that never seemed to happen. He was going to do a story in it about my home brew 'Vortex' pin after i sent him photos of it and he liked what he saw. He asked me to do a full write up for the book about the game and how i got into the hobby etc (which i did).

I'm guessing the fifth book was never completed.. can anyone confirm this??

Oops, didn't know about that one and too late to modify.   @.@

Correction: an almost complete set...

So why did he do 'the electromechanical era' edition when the 3 books I have cover the 1930's until now? Does it repeat stuff in the other books?

He might be writing up all the 2000-2010 decade perhaps? it would be interesting as it 'should' include a lot more homebrew and independant manufactures that have popped up in very recent years.

He got much better photos as some of the pics in the first book were of unrestored machines, it also has more info from different designers, artists etc.
