Gottlieb Sys 3 flipper not working
« on: March 09, 2014, 12:00:57 AM »
Have almost no idea about Gottlieb Sys 3's. Have had a bloke drop off a Freddy Kruger and asked me to help him out.

The upper right flipper does not work - although the hold winding works, as when you manually lift it up, the flipper holds. So from this, i think i can assume the cab switch is fine (since it holds it in when pressed).

Visually, the wires are all intact, and the winding wires look OK. Coil resistance is 207 ohms (which i think is correct)

Which tab of the coil can i safely ground to check the coil is OK - or is this driven via a transistor. Can't seem to find a lot of info with a quick look on how these are actually driven?

Thanks

Rob

I snipped one of the EOS wires off - and it made no difference. When i though about this approach, i think this was the wrong way as the EOS should be normally closed, so if i snipped a lead off, the coil should only power at hold strength?

So then i jumpered the the two coil lugs where the EOS contacts were wired to, and it works.

Thanks Daniel, champion. I'll clean the contacts of the EOS, although as its not my machine, may be more reliable getting a new EOS
