Pinball - Voltage Tester / Mod Box

Pin - Voltage Test / Mod Box

Note: this is a DIY mini project.

I created this gadget so I can test el wire kits for my **CFTBL Restro Snackbar Mod** and thought I may as well put it out there for others to benefit, use or modify for there own use. I will open it shortly to Shapeways for anyone wanting to get it to make their own creations.

My unit will have a plug in power pack connected to the appropriate pins so instead of plugging every kit to my back box circuit board potentially causing damage I can plug up to 3 units at a time into the test box and test for 15 minutes each - therefore QA testing before despatch. It will also be good to experiment and compare el wire inverters and different glow intensities or have 3 units with different coloured el wire plugged in at the same time for photos.

If you buy this box and lid you will just need 3 x 4 pin Z connectors (available at Pinball Life).

I am specifically testing 12 vdc but you can mix it up and you could have one plug for 5 vdc testing, another for 6.3 vdc and one for 12 vdc testing. I will design a cap shortly for the z connector so if you are using just one z connector and don't want the risk of shorting out anything this can be avoided by placing a cap on the other 2 connectors.

Also another possibility is you could run a lead from a power source to under the playfield and this could be a affordable way to power up some mods, 1 x power in and 3 x powers out (5vdc, 6.3vdc or 12vdc) though if you did this you are responsible for the amount of power draw on your machine but it could be a simple way to add a junction power box under the playfield for mods or addition GI lighting.

If people purchase please share your creativity in what you are doing with them.
