STAR TREK BACKGLASS
« on: April 28, 2009, 10:29:52 PM »
Went to fix a guys simpsons pinball this afternoon and he has a Star trek one he wants fixed aswell but it has the strangest backglass problems ive ever seen Almost the entire picture has bubbled and come off the class but has hardly cracked?  Has anyone seen this or have any idea what could cause this or even how to fix it?  Hard to see in the photos but atleast 80% of the paint has lifted

That is quite common for Bally glasses of that era. They tend to lift off the glass where as other glasses tend to flake.

I'm sure i read about a way to fix it many moons ago. Perhaps dig around RGP archives, or someone might chime in here no doubt.

Once it's arrested, i'm not sure if it will cure the splotchy circle effect when you look at it from the front.

Triple Thick and glad wrap would what I'd be thinking.

I would be scared to sneeze near that glass

Yeah glad wrap rings a bell for sure.

The yanks tend to call it "Saran" wrap. So that might help searching for the best way to tackle it.

If you could document your work on the glass, that would be excellent  ^^^
