The board I googled on ksarcade looks different to the one on big daddy, obviously the reason for the huge price difference.

That one is an original board, it's the same as the one currently in my machine. The Big Daddy is a replacement board. It loos different but does the same job, it'll just mount in where the old one sits.

Whatever fixes the sound at the most cost effective way is the go. Some  machines that I enjoyed playing in the early arcade days were Firepower, Black Hole, Spirit and Centaur. I am sure that the wild sounds (for those times) had a lot to do with it.
If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
If you don't remember anything,  then read about it here,

+1 couldn't agree more with all of the above.

If the sound is going it is unlikely the cable is the problem.  Lack of reverb usually means the SAD4096 echo chip is cactus and these are pretty much unobtainable.  Easiest solution is to fork out for an aftermarket reverb board, but they are not cheap either.

Ian, any idea who or where you get the aftermarket reverb board from ??

Cheers
Graeme

Hi there Graham, we really should catch up soon!

German board is here:

As someone else said, Big Daddy also has one:

I have not bought either 'cause I am too tight!  Plus I bought the parts for this but have been too slack to put it all together:

cheers

problem with buying an original board is its a time bomb, once the main chip dies then your back in the same boat.
I did repair one of these boards with a proto type replacement re verb / echo circuit.
not sure if my supplier is willing to sell me another one.

the think is i have to silicone or hot melt glue the mini PCB in place.
But last time i used silicone to hold something in place on a PCB all hell broke loose.

my advice is buy an after market board with modern components not a second board with a potential to land u in the same predicament.

I ended up buying one of the aftermarket boards as advised and it sounds fantastic, just swapped it in today. If anyone's thinking about getting one I can highly recommend doing grabbing one.
