Hanging PINBALL Backglasses
« on: May 09, 2009, 01:51:55 PM »
For years I have had backglasses hanging off the walls in my gamesroom.  Anyway, had always had these framed before hanging which is expensive bit I couldnt think of another way.

Anyhow, in Mitre 10 the other day saw that they sell Mirror Hangers, basiclly a pack of four right angled stainless steel clasps for hanging mirrors on walls.  Brought some and put another three glasses up this morining.

Much cheaper and easier way of hanging them and easy to remove the backglass if you need to sell it or install it in a Pinball etc.

Sounds great Dean, are you able to post some pix?

I haven't got any back glasses for that very reason. Would be keen to see what these things look like and the end result.

Are the back of the BG's protected using these hangers Dean . I've thought about picking up some cheap translites and BG's to hang in my shed/games room (when it's reno'd ) . Am interested to see what people use to hang them.

Honestly - for a bit of effort and very little money I would buy some MDF and make a 'mock' backbox at about one third to half a normal backbox depth.
All cut at the same angles as a real backbox ( make sense? ) I would then mount the BG's in there and hang that on the wall so it looked like a real backbox ( only a lot shallower ) hanging off my wall.

You probably wouldnt have to router out a channel for the glass, if you made it all just a touch bigger than normal you could put a thin rail in front and back to hold it in place ( havent done one yet so I am not 100% positive on that but it should work )

One sheet of MDF about $15.00, can of spraypaint $7.00 , half - one days labour = free.
MUCH better end result. *)*
