Black Hole owners - Help!
« on: June 22, 2009, 04:12:35 PM »
Hi guys,

Can any of the BH owners do me a huge favour.  On the lower playfield (going by schematics too) I'm trying to sort out the wiring for Q3 transistor.  I've located the base but my problem is wiring for the emitter.  There is NO colour code in the schematics so I thought I'd go to the end and work my way back.  The emitter goes through the 'BALL GATE' onto F19 fuse.  The wiring from the fuse back is 588 (green slate/slate).  My 588 wire is about 10cm long then is cut.

I'm missing the entire assembly (after hrs of head scratching) - inc gate.  Can someone please take a photo of this area so I know where to start.  I'm also going to try to find the assembly number for the ball gate assembly.

Thanks in advance.

(Pic shows area where it should be!)

Thanks heaps for that.  It looks almost identical to the upper playfield one.  Do you know if they are in fact the same?

I'll put up a wanted post just in case someone has a spare too...

BTW - you don't happen to have the part numbers by any chance?  I'm too scared to try to order it from PBR without it if I cannot source one here.

I think the attached is the assembly, called a ball gate, but no part number for the full assembly. I guess you could attach this to the email to PBR??

Another bit of help (again!)...

On the lower playfield just below the left flipper (behind kicking target) I'm not sure if I am missing something or if its a 'factory' fitted nail!    *!@     ^&(

See pic:

Looks like a factory nail - they seem to use those as supports for the plastics!

Marty, I've just pulled the shed apart so I could check my Black Hole for you. Sounds great doesn't it :lol

Anyway that assembly is called a ball gate assembly and yes it is exactly the same as the one on the upper playfield directly to the left of the ball shooter assembly.

I checked my 1987 Gottlieb parts catalogue and there is no part number for the whole assembly, but the part numbers for the individual parts themselves are as follows:

A-20604 Wire Form
A-20293 Link & plunger assembly
A-3232   Spring
A-15409 Coil mounting bracket
A-16570 Coil A16570
A-5065  Coil sleeve
A-18702 Coil & stop bracket
C-20297 Gate Frame
A-20606 Gate
A-20294 Spring

Thats all the parts that make up the assembly except for the screws, washers and circlips but you can copy those from the other assembly to see what you need.

Hope this helps you out.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

Greatly appreciated.

I've ordered a parts catalogue and is on the way (soon hopefully).  I had very cautiously emailed PBR regarding the list and Steve had either a s/h one or a new one complete at a cery good price.  I was luckly this time !

Thanks again

I hope your BH is not sitting collecting dust!

Another Q for the BH owners club!

I've tested almost everything now and seem to have G.I probs fixed.

In relation to the lower playfield illumination (playfield window lighting - #313 globes) I know this is suppose to switch on when ball goes to lower pf.  Does this lighting come on during coil tests or can you activate it manually?  I am just not 100% certain this is working on mine...

**edit - I think I may have sussed it out.  Technically pulling in the Q relay should turn these on, which doesn't happen on mine.  However upon further inspection there were #47 globes installed....Prob worked once then kaput.
I have some #313's on the way so I'll test then too.
