« on: August 17, 2009, 11:13:50 PM »

One of the better, if not best Gottlieb System 3 games.

Played it a bit on site back in the day. Good looking machine, Fun to play. Although i remember it giving you multiball a hell of a lot.

Yes, I do like my SG, by far the best system 3 I have played. Lots of multiball modes, lots of modes and tasks to complete, great (tough) ramps, great music, good sound (hold the flippers in during the first quote when game starts to almost remove the "tutorial speech"), great looking back glass and rope lights - I could go on but I have already!

Anything $2K or under is a steal, literally.

If it is in good condition and you have the cash, $1800 is a good buy.

Stargate is Gottlieb best system 3 game by a country mile.
We don't see to many of them here in the U.K. but at this years U.K. Pinball Show there were two machines next to each other and both working. Last years show there was a single Stargate but spent most of the time broke down awaiting repair. Its a great game to play and a awesome theme but needs strong flippers to make the difficult ramp shots. Since playing it at the show its one of the machines on my wish list.
Top game, go for it , you won't be disappointed.
Darren.

Stargate rocks

A really underrated 90's pin

A good price too at between $1800 and $2000 - there a re a few sites regarding it if you google that will give you the heads up on things to look for - from memory the rope lights fail a bit (but they can now be replaced and the pyramid and its motor can be prone to issues

Greg has the rope light (www.rtbb.com.au) although I've never had an issue with the glider craft motor. Don't forget too about the renowned reliability of the system 3 board set. Can't say I know much about Gottlieb System 3 electronics though - never had to open the back glass! (Well, other than to add the rope light from Greg! :) It's a Gottlieb that measures up extremely well to the Bally/Williams of the day - not in the league of the best like AFM from about the same time, but most of the other WMS games of 94/95 don't outshine this gem.
