Ok Gurus, how do I get my Bally flippers flippi'n with Gusto!

Bally Playboy 1978. "One of the very best!"

Left hand flipper works but no power. I filed / grinded back the terminals on the burnt anti stroke switch and tried to ajust.

Has a couple of great games until it popped the fuse. Suspect the anti stroke switch is not working (properly).

Thinking I should replace the switch but any other ideas on how to ajust would be appreciated!

Why not rebuild the flippers and replace the end of stroke?  Then you can have nice strong flippers, oh and clean the contacts on the cabinet flipper switches as well.

i agree. rebuild flippers, replace bush, clean flipper contacts on cab buttons and for a few bucks more replace the flipper coil. your flippers will be like new and work well for years to come.
once they get to a stage where you need to replace a bush or a sleeve they are due for a rebuild.
and as far as blowing a fuse goes you either have a eos or wire shorting or a crook diode on the flipper coil or the coil is cactus.

mark.c should have all these parts

Also, when you say "rebuild" I do not understand. A coil either works or does not, flipper shaft OK, flipper bat OK, position ajustment OK, and not sure what else there is?
except of course the end of stroke switch ??

What am I missing??

What kind of bucks are youlooking at for SS machines? I know where to get for fliptronics and the pricing. I'm thinking of getting an SS pinball, therefore reason for my question

Flipper parts for SS machines will shock you. Almost double the price of DMD parts. With that inmind dont go replacing stuff that isnt worn-out.

John,

This is what you should be looking at: http://www.pbresource.com/rebuildkit.html#KT-BFLIP03

Plus as the others have suggested new coils and sleeves.

Weird as I'm a huge fan of these kits.....but.....have replaced the entire flipper assemblies with all new and they haven't worked as well as fully rebuilt original assemblies with new coil sleeves and cleaning.

Go figure  !@#

I wouldn't replace the coil's if they are both OK, I normally just ream them out so the coil sleeves slide in easy.  Get the complete rebuild kit from PBR as Tony said, it will make a huge difference.

as i said, rebuild kit first and if they are still popping fuses replace diodes, if still popping fuses then replace the coil, if still weak replace the coil.  ^^^

I started repairing pins back in 1987 and did it as a full time job for several years.
back then if the flipper was weak we would just replace the lot (coil, sleave, linkage, plunger, spring, eos,) it was more ecenomical to do this than have a pin with week flippers.
Once a pin was known to have week flippers by the regulars who played them the pin would take in a lot less money, once this happend the pin would have to be moved to a different site to start making decent money again. so it was just easier to repair it properly.
