STAR TREK ISSUES???
« on: October 13, 2009, 11:21:32 PM »
Well with the boys playing star trek we noticed that it gives out lots of extra ball but for no apparent reason.   I couldn't see them hit anything in particular and the extra ball light was not even lit half the time.

 Any ideas?????  !@#

"Same player shoots again" lit ?

Did the "ball in play" increase, or stay on the same ball ?

Interesting and very strange  !@#

I don't think the same player shoots again lit up but maybe it wasn't working
and I'm fairly sure the ball in play didn't increase, I could hear the sound for the extra ball each time it was awarded

Any AMI chip is questionable, about 50/50 that its ok. 5101 if old should be replaced & 6820/6821 usually can wear out even Motorola ones.

Now that sounds very strange. The only way a ball will be served again without incrementing the "ball in play" is if there was no score. Sounds like a ROM issue. Could be what John described - The CMOS 5101 - that's a possibility.

It sounds to me like a "one off" event. If it is doing it all the time - Check the 5 Volt line on the MPU and check the MPU is grounded.
