I hate touch ups...Black Hole Pop Bumper wear fix
« on: October 15, 2009, 08:59:02 PM »
What is it with doing touch-ups???Doesnt matter how good they turn out you are never ever happy with them...
well thats me at least....
Ok well ive had a go at fixing the wear under the plastic of the pop bumpers on my Black hole...
This didnt really take that long to do...but not 100% sure if I will leave it or not..or if I will do the same to the other pop bumpers...
I wanted to try something a little different...was going to just paint the touch-ups but tried this method...

First I took a pic of the area to be touched up ....

Then Played around with the pic and touched it up and got the size correct ect...and ended up with this..

Then just printed it out onto sticker backed photo paper..Cut it out...stuck it down then stuck some mylar over the top...Its not too bad I think...just not sure about it...
What do you guys think???It is better than it was I guess...

Looks bloody good.  If you didn't know, you'd think it was just clear mylar bumper rings on the original paint.  ^^^

Im still not convinced...lol....But may try the other 2 bumpers as well...and then make up my mind...
But much better than leaving the crappy old loose plastics/non sticky mylar...I hate those things...are they suppose to trap dirt under them so it wears away the playfield...???..lol

Looks better than those mylar rings, they act like sand paper, as i have found out with my HH restore colour matching is a prick of a job.

Looks fine - blue always seems hard to match, and matching in those areas is pretty hard. My BH was exactly the same. After a bunch of attempts I gave up and instead found a blue contact that complimented the pop bumpers, and made circles and installed then mylared them. Far from original, but pretty neat.

I did the front pop today...and think its a better way to go...I may pull of the decal job and go back to doing this...

Just pulled off the old plastic and did the wear touch-ups with paint...then just put new mylar down over it...but made the new mylar a few mm bigger than the old one so it covers most of the touch-ups...

BEFORE....

AFTER....

Still need to touch-up the asteroid in front some more but the pop bumper wear looks heaps better..
