The blue areas seem to be a darker blue on this one than a "normal" playfield . Didn't the prototype Indy's have Stainless Steel sides to the Path Of Adventure (not red) ???  !@#

Looks like your typical shitty Indy with faded sides. What a stunner!

I have a sample IJ, an upcoming restoration. PFR has had the playfields for over 2 years now, I am sure they will be returned someday.

It's a very rough sample IJ, but with the restoration I have planned, any sample IJ is sufficient.

Here are some (but not all) of the items that make a sample a sample:

Small heads on the carriage bolts holding the PF slides in:

No buy-in button

Stainless side rails on POA

Different 'Super Jackpot' insert artwork

Lost Plastic

Illumination for the lost plastic from the factory

Extra lamp piggybacked off big lamp board, which is different from production

Extra holes drilled on mini playfield

Backbox speaker panel with lamp board from the factory

Thanks for posting all that John, very interesting.

Yeah, good job.

Now we REALLY know what to look for. I knew about the lost plastic plus lamp and the stainless steel sides on the POA, but the rest of the detail is extremely helpful.

By the way, anyone can add a 'lost plastic' to their IJ...

Sure, but to add the illumination gets a little trickier. There are kits on the market, and some of them include templates to cut them.

If you notice, the speaker panel is pretty awful from getting wet - so I needed to replace it.

I had a buddy make me one, with a slight twist:

Can anyone tell me what the twist is? The 2nd one from the right on the bottom row is the one for my IJ :)

Just noticed on the so-called "proto" Indy at the start of this thread - Where the hell is the bi-plane ??? For that sort of $ you'd expect it to have that .

I'm not counting the holes for the jackpot plastic, as they were on the original panel :) Something different than original.

Correct, going with 5-1/4 speakers on both sides because it sounds more balanced.
