Got myself a Wagner power sprayer to do my clear coats. Have a look at the pictures, hard to believe these were beat playfields that got fully sanded & going through my restoration process. If you can find a willing print shop, anything can be done if you have a art file. http://greatpinball.com/

I said my site would be updated 2010, lets see if Wayne Gillard can do the same!

No I don't want to buy any pins from Wayne. Just saying its time for him to update his site. He isn't building any pins that you can actually see & is not posting any pictures publicly. Hard to believe someone in the amusement business can't update & post pictures or progress of anything going on. Time to just make parts if you can't build new pins.

I have always admired your work John and although not true to the original screened artwork, i find it true to the original with a little more detail and a little crisper....

This is a fantastic service to be providing..

Keep up the good work !

Hi John,
Great work again...........
Has Edwards Space Shuttle had the waterbourne uerethane sprayed directly over his new playfield overlay or has the overlay been sealed to the Playfield before the uerethane was applied??  !@# !@#

All the work I am slowly doing is commercial inkjet printing. I am lucky enough to find a willing printer with a Color Span 9840uv printer. Seems like a real slow learning curve for me going on 3 years. Finally I believe the process is figured out, take your time to let the uv ink dry another 1 - 2 weeks. Allow about 20 - 24 hours between coats of Waterbourne Gloss Varethane (3 - 6 coats). If you do like 3 coats in one day, you are rolling the dice to start over. The biggest failure in the past was the body shop doing the 2 coats of finish DuPont. They would rush this at the end of the work day, & now I know that only 1 coat a day should be done for curing. If not the failure is wrinkling in small places around light lenses or black ink areas.

People constantly tell me they don't want an overlay & definitely want the finish DuPont coats. The 20 playfields left from the last 3 years are being done over this winter & early spring here in Canada. If things work out many more titles will become available & my wish is that many people could do the same around the world. Hopefully other printers can see that they could do one at a time, around the world with out wrecking a 50k ink head. That would allow anyone to restore their playfield if art file available. That's the ultimate goal!

I was asking because Edwards site shows the reproduction of the overlay for the Space Shuttle. I wondered if the overlay was directly stuck to the Playfield, was it sealed and then the clearcoat sprayed directly over the reproduced overlay...

Cheers

I don't know about Edward's overlay, but he wants his playfield done my way. He will most likely get a fresh new one from CPR maybe this year or next.

All good as I think your way is far better than any overlay would be............
