No worries Mate.  ^^^ I am going to attempt the re-pinning.
I have never done it before so it may be a challenge for me. Is the job difficult?

I have also bought 2 displays which should get to me in the next week. I will keep 1 for a spare & use the other to replace player fours dead display. I am hoping that if i replace the dead display the others will all work. If not i will attempt the re-pinning.

Hi All,
my displays have arrived & i have replaced the dead 4 player display. Good news is player 2 & 4 works bad news is player 1 & 3 are missing 3rd digit. I have wriggled the wires & there is no change. How can i check wiring to find out which wires are the problem? As i know the displays are both working.

Does anyone have any old system 3 cabling that they want to sell?

Hoping someone can help  Cheers Paul

Looking at your master display does it have heaps of little transistors or does it have a handfull of IC chips?   From memory there are resistors that burn out often and need to be upgraded on the IC version

Get the schematic drawing previously mentioned - it shows the wiring connections and will help clarify the following.

Because the same digit is missing on the paired displays it is very likely to me - almost certain - that it's a stobe issue.

When you say third digit - do you mean hundreds?  If so it's strobe 4, this is on pin 9 of the connector on the rhs of the master display. Pin 1 is at the bottom, pin 18 is at the top and not used.  (all this is shown on the drawings which is why you need them) Examine the wiring associated at each end of this connector - follow the wire to get to the mpu board end.  You might be able to clean up the pin with a bit of scraping - but this is only temporary. Try it to see if any change.  It might also be a one of the stobe inverter IC's on the rhs of the master display IC1, 2 & 3  - are they socketed? If so you could try swapping one to another position - preserve the orientation. If another digit plays up it is the chip, a 4069 which you can get at Jaycar.

 Hi all,

Ive been away for a while & Ready to get back into it.
I am having trouble finding the website for hematic drawings of the System 3 display board. I thought it was on
Marks piball page but couldnt see it.

  The digits missing on player 1 & 3 are the 1000s  (11-111).

If anyone has a link to the display driver board i would appreciate it.

Thanks again for all your patients & help.
