Marco group order ???
« on: May 13, 2010, 07:48:09 PM »
I am looking at ordering some parts from Marco Specialties soon and , as we all know , their postage can be a bit extravagant .

If anyone is interetsed in doing a group order to save on postage let me know what you need .

Will wait and put my order in next weekend (22/5/10) so if you're interested let me know by then .

Cheers .

No probs mate . Still have to double check a few things I may need and am putting in an order regardless . Just putting the feelers out to see if anybody was wanting to get anything from them and we can all save a few $ on postage by doing a group buy .

good point - and keep in mind that the order PLUS shipping converted to AUS$ MUST be under $1000. Otherwise you will be paying GST on the full amount. I'vw come close a few times  ^&^

Good point Nino . When I first started this thread I just had in mind that it would be for guys with just a few smallish orders that we could combine to save a bit of postage . Looks like I might have to set a limit .

I put a few orders thru of late, 1 x $450 USA and the other last night for $350 USA.

On both occassions, when i chose the postage i wanted, when the checkout process continued on, the postage was 30 percent higher than stated, and the computer would not let me do anything but their bullshit preset postage. The owner of Marco Spec might be a nice guy, but he is stealing from people. If i meet him, i will tell him without any hesitation.

Its not the 20 or 30 bux extra rip off, its the principal.

BUT, Unfortunately, the Australian Sellers do not have any of the items I ordered in stock, or it always shows out of stock which is a shame and also frustrating.
I cant send emails off morning , noon and night begging for stock, I am too busy.
When this changes, I, and fifty like me, will stop spending money overseas.  !@#

How much of a range of parts should we expect them to stock? Uneconomical for them to stock gear only rarely sold.

Yes, we are in fact spoiled these days with the parts sellers (in particular our own sponsors RTBB and PSP) compared to even just five years ago. Back then you couldn't buy much more than rubber out here! And anything you could buy was (without exaggeration) two or three times what it costs today.

Ok guys I thought I'd chip in and say that perhaps I should've re-phrased my first post a little different .

I'm only putting in a relatively small order to get some parts that nobody else seems to stock . I was looking for other members (preferably locals) who also ONLY NEED A FEW SMALL BITS AND PIECES to add to my order and split the postage .

I have had a few people contact me with HUUUGE orders which also have a huge postage cost attached to them . To be fair to everyone I fail to see how those of us with relatively small orders will benefit if these big orders are combined .

The best I can suggest is that those of you who have a very large order you want to put in at Marco to put your order in yourself and possibly get a few guys local to you to order stuff as well .

I'm going to have a chat to a few guys at a Newy meet tonight but at this stage it looks like I'm only gonna do local orders .

Sorry for the confusion ... :D
