« Reply #15 on: June 17, 2010, 02:53:17 AM »
quick question.  !@# !@#

I had a machine turn up with the dmd having every dot/line etc ALL LIT UP.

I swapped out the dmd for a brand new spare i Had, but, what would need fixing if EVERY part of the dmd is constantly lit up.

After reading this post, i want to bring it back to life.  Its sort of the opposite, nothing missing, but everything lit up ?

Any ideas ?

thanks guys in advance.  ^^^

Sounds like a problem with your DMD controller board?
Although if the brand new one was ok, that obviously is not the case.
Put the old one back in and check the connectors were not in one pin off.  Some times if they are connected incorrectly they can do strange things

Priceless.

:lol it was 160 pins (128 x 32)  @.@ and yes I was cursing and counting them off as I went, the numbers were printed on the PCB just to remind me of how many more I had to do *)*

They are worth fixing, save yourself over 200 bucks by re-soldering. I have one in the shed with the bottom 2 lines gone, may have a go at it myself.

Greg, here is a good link to repairing DMDs using the epoxy method, you could try soldering first and if that doesn't work try this:
