Ribbon Cables

Might sound a silly question - but are the ribbon cables used in PCs the same as those used in pinball machines. !@#

Yes.... just the number of wires on the cable that alters. Can by a wider cable from Jaycar and tear off those that are not needed.. and ALWAYS put the connector on using a vice

I went with Andrew (Beaky) to Prime Electronics on the Gold Coast the other day and bought some and made them up for Andys Next Gen.
It cost a total of $5.20 to make/buy 2 x decent sized cables.

As Gav said, crimp ends with a vice. Very simple and cheap to make.  ^^^

If you want to buy ready made ones, Great Plains electronics in the US provide a fantastic service at very reasonable rates with sensible postage options. A complete set of cables for a TZ (five cables) cost me a total of US$34 including postage.
