New DMD Required - O/S or Aust?
« on: September 23, 2010, 04:33:35 PM »
With the Aussie Dollar heading for a record high is it best to purchase a new DMD display for a getaway from the USA or from local supplier?

The reason I enquire is the cheapest a local supplier has them listed is $199 plus postage as I am not local wheras from O/S they are listed under $150. shipping is relatively dear, but overall it is still a saving sourcing overseas.

When the Aussie $ is high, it is good buying. I have found that some local distributors will pass on the savings (generally speaking)

Have a think about all the bouncing around and all the banging and crashing a DMD might cop during its trip from overseas. Thats what i would worry about.

My maths says one from Mark C for $199 plus postage is a better option, espescially for warranty etc, Imagine having to pay the postage to send something back to the USA if it came not working or broken etc,and the crap you would go through with a USA supplier, 50 emails etc etc.  Just buy it locally. Easier in the long run.  ^^^

Even with the dollar being high if i can buy it from a local supplier for close to the same price i would support the local guy, more dollars to locals the more parts they stock and the more competitive their prices become. ^^^
