Solar Ride game over mid game
« on: November 13, 2010, 06:19:43 PM »
I need help.
My Solar Ride has a problem at the moment where it will be playing a game perfectly fine and then the game just stopsand goes to game over.
Sometimes you can play a couple of balls, sometimes it goes to game over when it ejects the ball.
I dont know if it is a mpu or driver board error or just a switch error.

Any ideas?? ^&^

Check the slam switch on the front door. That usually tilts the machine.

Play a couple of games by hand - take off the playfield glass, and simulate a game and see if there is a pattern ?

This is from http://www.pinrepair.com/sys1/index.htm#misc

"Problem: Game goes to "GAME OVER" during play for no apparent reason.
Answer: Check the two normally closed SLAM switches for adequate pressure. One of the slam switches is mounted inside the coin door, the other is at the ball roll assembly inside the cabinet. Improperly adjusted switches will respond to game vibration levels and show this problem. Also check the suppression diodes across the pop bumpers, flippers and slingshot kicker coils. An open or broken diode/older connection can cause random game-over symptoms."

I checked the slam switches and they looked ok.
I played a game with the glass of and flicked the slam switches a few times and it seemed to play ok.
Wondering if the switches had a bit of crud on them or something and flicking them around gave a good contact.
I might even disable the slam by jumpering the mpu as shown on the marvin guide.
thanks for the help guys.

I'd simply jumper them. The game is a home use machine now !

Jumper the slam

Have you done the ground mods?

If you haven't and you have an original PSU, this could be overloading the PSU after a couple of balls and then playing havoc
