QLD in the dark
« on: November 16, 2010, 07:49:53 PM »
This bloody place irritates me sometimes..... just missed a pin on Ebay i was bloody keen on because QLD refuse to have daylight saving and so im an hour out..

Oh well... when the blazing sun bursts through the window at 4.30am tomorrow, ill lament that although i missed my pin at least i can get up, but not start work cos i cant make noise till 7am.

Then when it goes down at 6pm, ill lament that although i missed my pin at least its too dark to do anything outside and so its best to stay indoors and let TV entertain my meagre brain.

Bloody pissed i missed my pin.... anyone here buy the STONER CHUBBIE from Bike City... i give you my evil eye  ^%^ ^&( ^%^

Pretty much! The whole of QLD is really behind the 8 ball here.
But any state that feels compelled to call itself "the smart state" obviously has the need to relabel itself...

Apparently daylight saving is too confusing... lets see.... 5 O clock plus 1hr equals.....no that cant be right.. ive got 6... how does that work then?

Gav,

I bet that the reson QLD has gone with the daylight saving is because of the gold coast and the tourism market. why, I am not sure, but it must help tourism for some reason.

Once upon a time, pilots on aircraft coming in to land on the gold coast or brisbane airports used to say for a joke "ladies n gentlemen, we are entering queensland airspace, please wind you watches back 20 years".  %.% %.%

Now, its just an hour ! daylight saving is a pain in the ass. I cant see any benefit. Its always funny how old people in their 70's or 90's etc complain the extra hour of sun will fade things etc.  @.@

that was one of the other smart state's questions.

I absolutely love daylight savings, not just because we have it here (as do most other states) but I get a lot more fun with it being light when I get home from work for three hours, rather than sleeping though the sun rise and missing those hours of sun light. I'm sure there's a good reason to the mind of whoever doesn't want it up north, but as it's just an arbitrary change to the time, it has zero effect in my opinion, other than to shift the day light hours to the end rather than the start of the working day for those of us who work "standard" hours.

I get up at 5.15am to go to work, so its pretty well dark all year round for me.
It would annoy me having daylight at 4.30am (while I am asleep) and missing out on an hour after work for the warmer months.
Daylight savings great idea!
Who wouldn't want it????

Quite agree... whilst in melb, my wife rang me to tell me to hurry back as we had to eat yet.. find restaurant etc. I was thinking bloody hell, give us a chance.. its only 5 pm or so...... was in fact 7pm and sun still high in sky. Had forgotten what it was like having spent 15 years in QLD. The cooler hours long into the evening are just the best.. back in London we absolutely loved them. I am so much more productive with lighter evenings.. hot sunny early mornings are just a waste of working hours and trying to snatch another hours kip with the hot sun blazing through onto the bed just sucks.
Yep.. certainly have it backwards here
