GTB Flying Carpet - anyone buy it?
« on: November 30, 2010, 11:01:44 PM »
I saw a GTB Flying Carpet on ebay - classic wedgehead that I loved playing in the past. Cabinet was painted blue but the pf and rest of it looked pretty good. Went for about $1200 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110616170989&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT ) Any AP member buy it?
Wanted: GTB Aquarius backglass. Any playfield bits and backglasses from any EMs - nothing is junk to me.

$1200 for a Wegdehead with no drop targets requiring a repaint ? I thought it went for above its value. But then again, Spirit  went for $1900, which changes the perspective a fair bit !

I chuckled when I read the de******ion "we repainted the cabinet to match our decor at the time"

oh dear

people that do crap like that should be flogged ^.^

a guy wanted to buy my abracadabra about 20 yrs ago, i nearly sold it to him too, until he told me he intended to repaint it "to match the decor of his rumpus room"  !!@ i quickly changed my mind soon as i heard that.

this was at a time when pins could be found for $50, and i was asking $450 for the game, and even then i knew it would be a total waste to let him do that to a pin.. bloody idiots  !!@

+1,I have seen a few of these on ebay and i thought it would not make the 1k mark.Stand up targets are ok,but you have to have a mix with some drops as well in my opinion.

I own a Flying Carpet and when I saw this one  *!@
I love a pin that has stand up targets it takes more skill to hit them all out IMO eg. Gottlieb TOP CARD. With drop targets the slightest touch and they fall or more than 1 will drop if hit at a acute angle eg. Gottlieb  HIGH HAND.
