Well the PCB factory delivered the Bally / Stern blank boards today and I have to say they look FANTASTIC! You can see in the picture of them in the box the small board that can be used as a replacement for the very hard to find 9602 oscillator IC. I have been able to put all parts into stock during this China trip and I will finalise the kit and have it available after we have made a few test boards and checked all is OK.
I can't describe how HEAVY the box of boards is - maybe 20kg?
It will actually cost about 50% of the board cost again just for freight to Australia!
Everything here is more expensive than about two months ago and I really hope that the budget doesn't blow out too much with this DIY project? We will see when I get all the bits together and have a chance to calculate the final price.
A lot of the problem is you have to order 1000 or even 5000pcs of each part to get a sensible price - - --
