Interesting pinball Machines... Williams Hyperball

Recently I posted a link about a Bally Spectrum on you-tube, I thought Spectrum had  interesting game play.  This is another game made By Williams, HYPERBALL. This game has a never-ending barrage of silver balls. The Sounds are from early Williams Solid State, you can here the Match sound from Firepower and sounds from Williams Defender.
Interesting game to watch, I only ever played this game once back in the early 80s.

Bally had one to, it was  RAPID FIRE. It was a copy of Hyperball.....

One of the the two titles was recently sold from a collection in Bendigo (vic).

Williams were trying to come up with a format that was a crossover pinball / video. Hard to track down these days.

I had a Hyperball a few years back.  That and a Rapid Fire.  The Rapid Fire was such a bad seller for Bally they ended up turning the remainder cabinets into Centaurs and EBD Deluxes. 

They're fun to play for a short time but you get tired of them very quick.  If you have people over to play they'll get played as they do have a novelty attraction but if you're wanting one for strictly your own playing I woudn't recommend it.

I used to play Hyperball years ago in Laurieton at the arcade where my KISS originally came from. It was another game that blew me away at the time even though i couldnt quite get the hang of it at the time, i was lucky if i lasted a couple of minutes on it 

wouldnt mind finding one for myself just for something different

I played one when I was a young chap and was set on getting one recently.  I agree with James that I think it would get a little boring over time and especially in a small collection.

But I think if you had a good size collection and space wasn't an issue it would be a good filler.

Shame they don't come up often locally and when they do its around the $1500+.

In the States they seem to go for around $500.00 to $700.00 which is about the right sort of money IMO.

I remember playing one at the bowling alley in Toowoomba many years ago.
Great fun but also pretty short playtime due to not knowing what the hell I was doing!

Hard to imagine loading 55 balls into a game!
