Crazy prices for playfields
« on: January 20, 2011, 11:48:53 AM »
Check out these ebay auctions, for a main TZ pf and a TZ mini pf.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200565962856&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200565963320&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I'm pretty sure TZ is in the pipeline somewhere for a reproduction down the track

Main PF is over $1600 at the moment with over 3 days to go  :D

"The playfield was removed from a very low use game and sent to a very reputable restorer in the USA. It needed no touch ups, it was cleaned and clear coated. The playfield looks near new old stock and is absolutly stunning."

If the pf was sent to a 'vey reputable restorer' why would you not drop their name?
More importantly why would you even pay freight to US and back if it needed 'no touchups' just 'cleaned and cc'd'   ::)

eltimbo start stocking up on popular trashed pfs mate there is some big $$$ to be made if these auctions are anything to go by. *%*

Stupid price. Lots of TZs have decent pf's (didn't get a lot of love on site), surprised at the amount of interest. Agree - I hate the claim to have used a reputable person but won't name them, sends the wrong message.

Common BS story - "Reputable restorer has seen the machine and says it is the best..."

or my favorite from a few years ago ;

"All the reputable US restorers buy these parts" Riiiight !!

The playfield looks great, but if you cannot name the playfield restorer, then the restorer is relatively unknown !

The reputable restorer is HSA pinball in the US

The seller is also a member on this forum and it's not me

If that is the case, it would increase the chances of selling the playfields if it was mentioned. If I had a requirement for this playfield and I knew HSA had restored it, I would DEFINITELY pay more than if the restorer's name was NOT mentioned. If the seller is reading this thread - add the name - but at the price that the playfields are currently fetching - it might not be necessary.

I know that every time I see an unnamed endorsement on a pinball related eBay auction, I'm always skeptical. But it is great that this particular one has been verified.

Any idea why the member sent the whole PF over and back from the US just for a clear coat? there are plenty of Aussies who can do a great CC.
Let the bidding war continue.... at least the auction is going well for him

Great link Nino, I wonder why more people demanded the prototype style without the 'flip here' text.  IMO the text looks better.

Some playfields were sent over to Bill Davis and Playfield Renovations years ago, and the wait for the work to be completed took years ! I would not be surprised if this was a similar situation.

Lucky for us, we have members that can do clearcoating to the same (if not better) standard - but this is only a recent development.

I know the seller of these (no not me) . The playfields weren't sent from Aus to US and back . They came from elsewhere and were sent to HSA then brought over in a container .

The big difference between these and CPR playfields are that these are 100% original stock playfields which people may be willing to pay the extra premium for , and judging by the ebay results they are .

Definately stock, but now not exactly original, to the letter of the law, (extra cc applied) I don't see how that is any different to a new PF from CPR, but obviously some buyers are prepared to pay big $$$.  Well done anyway to the seller  *%*
