My Latest Gameroom toy!!
« on: March 21, 2011, 12:10:31 AM »
Hi guys, i thought some of you might like to see what i brought home today, a bit of a novelty for a gamesroom i think, an old poker machine!!

theres a bit of a story behind me acquiring this, i actually had this one armed bandit 14- 15 yrs ago, my brother and i found it at the rubbish tip in Wauchope, (near Port Macquarie) there were two of them there, this one and another, and i decided to drag the best one of the two home  :D (the other had heaps of bits missing from it). Now after getting it going (cleaning and lubricating the mechanisms) and making up a replacement for a missing coin tube, and playing with it for a while til the novelty wore off, and me leaving it behind when i left Port Macquarie my brother decided to give it away thinking that i didnt want it  ^&^

well as luck would have it, upon mentioning it recently to my brother, he said his mate who had the pokie was going to throw it out.. so i said 'get it back and i'll have it again'  :lol Having seen old poker machines sitting in peoples game rooms, made me start thinking about my old one and wanting it back!! well now i finally have it back after about 14 yrs  #*#

now some pics.. its in a bit of a mess, cabinet rotted at the bottom and the paint is peeling off in places, but amazingly it still works! Its an old 10 cent machine, and i have no idea how old it is. One day i'll give it a tidy up, and maybe build a new cabinet for it, but for now it can be set up somewhere since it still works!!

Great addition for the games room mitch i did one very similar to your up for a geelong guy a while backwhich was missing a heap of the pictures ill see if i can find the scans i made and repaired to print some better ones if you ever need them  ^^^

My one armed bandit is never played and has been squeezed into the corner i think about selling it all the time but ill never get another one so it just sits there.   Still love looking at it and the way they work is pure genius some very clever eople back then

It looks like it is apx 1970 to 1973 model. (I have a 1967 model similar)
This company in Rushcutters bay used to have something to do with the ARISTCRAT JUBILEE people from England. They branded the machines themselves after purchasing the base stock from the UK.  That pokie, all fully restored, would fetch between $1200 to $1500 from a collector.

Be extremely careful how you clean the score reels/ damp cloth only, no chemicals at all. Also, look up a resto site on how to oil n lubricate the entire machine. You just cant use any type of machine oil or you will cause major problems.

There will be a date stamp inside the machine on the metal chasis somewhere which will give u a date of build. You will have to look very carefully for it. I reckon it shld be on the right side somewhere usually.

Well done on a great pick up.  ^^^

Thanks for the info  ^^^ ^^^ ^^^ will come in very useful later on when i start on the cleanup. i wont be going too overboard with it though, just a basic tidy up and cleaning/lubricating of the mech for now. later on i'll do a more thorough resto. It definitely needs something doing to the cabinet as its badly water damaged.

And Daniel.. i had a feeling you might post a reply on this one  :D since you like ANYTHING that you can put a coin into  #@#
