This is a real roundabout way of doing things, but i got a phone call from a bloke who had got my number to possibly help him out with a repair - problem is that he is still a few hundred km away!
Anyway, i said i'd do some research for him, he had a WPC game that came up with factory settings restored, so when he went to change the batteries, noticed some corrosion in the holder - claims there is none on the board - although he admitted he doesn't really know much about boards/soldering etc.
Anyway, he wired up a 6 battery pack to take only 3 AAs, and was getting 4.5V out of the battery pack before soldering it to the board.
Soldered to the board, all worked fine, then a couple of hours later when he switched it on, same problem - now the batteries are only reading 3V....
Could there be something discharging the batteries on the board, or is it very likely a battery pack problem due to inexperienced soldering etc
Thanks
Rob
