Pinball owners list by year
« on: December 19, 2010, 01:53:51 PM »
Was just looking at the breakdown by year in the piball owners list (http://aussiepinball.com/index.php?topic=4302.0) and deiced to plot the data into a graph.

1993 is the top year with titles like TZ, STTNG and IJ, followed by 1979 (Kiss, Gorgar, Flash, Star trek)

Not sure what happened in 1970?  Not one single pin owned!

Also interesting to see the dip in 1983.

Thanks to Marty Machine for maintaining these lists. ^^^

Cool, but no surprises
late 70's/early 80's were a 'golden Age', same for WPC era

Though I might check out what we have stashed away from 1976  &&

Interesting graph. Wonder if our totals for the solid state era reflects similar statistics for overall game production?

Cool graph......

70's was free love, 80's was party-time, thus both dips hehehehe

Interesting distribution - the periods of 1972-1983 and 1984-2000 have a very similar pattern.  From this it would appear that the heyday of pin availabilty/production peaked around 1979 and 1993 give or take a few years.

Would also be interesting to see the breakdown, in each year, of the ownership by vendor - Bally, Gottlieb, Williams, etc.

Its interesting regarding 1970, with no one owing a 1970 pinny.
I was born in 1970 and i spent quite a few hours looking on the Internet Pinball Database for a pinball machine from the year I was born, being 1970.

I couldnt find anything that even came close to being of interest. All the artwork was very 1960's. So, in the end i gave up getting a pinny to represent the year i was born.

Maybe you guys (members) can do a search for a pinny for the year you were born and see if u can find something that interests you !  !@#      ^^^ ^^^

p.s - 1993 was indeed the best year for pinball in the modern era, with some of the best widebody and DMD pinballs ever made.

Yeah I once had a look at machines in the year I was born , particularly the month I was born May 68 ( Gottlieb Funland was May 68 ) & nothing there interested me either.
