Not sure theyve been out long enough for anyone to truely give an honest appraisal.

,,,If you are asking if they will last longer then only time can tell... there are inherent problems with both type of display

The 7 Digit LED Bally style display that I installed into my dads goldball look good. I heard that style you can get in blue, green and orange!

Those ones are OK - it's the replacements for DMDs we are talking about here.

On that subject though - don't install more than 2 or 3 aftermarket 7 seg type units in the one machine or you risk frizzling the 5V power supply.

I'd rather replace a dud driver chip on a LED DMD, than suffer whatever is wrong inside the glass-sadwiched traditional DMD's anyday....

I own a LED DMD (for my own development projects) and they're actually made up from smaller led matrix 'blocks', so, *if* a led went dodgy or dim, you could replace the 'block' (theyre available and only $10-$15 ex china).

As for the $450 pricetag for the LED DMD, i dunno, some dodgy marketing/importing hikes going on there.
I reckon i can make one for $100, might be an upcoming project  %$% #@#

my 20c  ;-)

Absolutely, most (if not all) my custom pin-projects will be exclusive to AP, with full des-crip-tion/install/tech-support etc.

Cool thanks guys for the insight-I asked because a machine I'm buying has one installed and I'd never had any experience with one.

thanks again
