POLL: What features makes a great DMD game for you?
« on: January 01, 2012, 01:15:20 PM »
I have a Creature and a White Water at home and love them but lately have had a few games around the local area, trying out Tron LE, Rolling Stones, Iron Man, Attack From Mars, Dracula, Adams Family, and a few others.

Some I thought wow I can't see or understand the hype with a machine and others have been bitten by the bug to get one.

Through trialling other games I actually like Iron Man and AFM because of the playfield openness, and you can see the loop easily around the the back of the playfield, and the non stop fast play with varying shots. I like WH20 because of the ramps and rule set and challenges and creature because of the colourful art and the various soundtracks.

So please place your 5 votes to see what the most popular features of the DMD era overall. Maybe Stern or Jersey can be stimulated by what we come up with or even our own AP guys in the future.

My two favorite DMDs are Scared Stiff and Cirqus Voltaire. Both are have great themes, artwork, humor, relatively open playfields and cool multiballs which "tie in" with the ruleset.

Attack from Mars would also fit the criteria I chose, but I have not played this title as much.

I like my games simple.  Push start launch the ball and just flip away aiming for ramps and flashing lights.  I guess that's why I prefer EM and SS over DMD (because I'm simple)

I chose...
Open playfield
Ramps
Sound
DMD graphics
Non licenced theme

But I would have to say humor is a really big factor for me.
I like a game that can make me laugh.
The darker themes are good too but I guess I enjoy myself more when I can have a bit of a chuckle.
Sound is also a big thing. The sound has died in my WH2O and it is amazing the differance it makes.

I can't narrow it down to 5 choices but I love fast dmd games with good ramps and orbits. When you can get right into combo country...man that's what it's all about for me.

an exciting DMD machine has to have

1. great artwork on the translite, then playfield, then cabinet
2. a really good light show, when in attract mode, or when sitting waiting for a player to come
3. excellent audio when u presss the start button
4. a very fast playfield, or if a slow playfield, fun tricky shots
5. insane multi ball with excellent audio and light shows

thats what makes a great DMD machine !  ^^^

Absolutely has to have multiball, but I don't really like games that give multiball out easily, I feel it should be something you have to work hard to get.
Gotta love some great ramps, like WH20
Mechanical toys are a huge part of the interesting things going on under the glass for me
Like deep rules for my games although makes it hard when playing a game on site and not familiar with the game
Love fast flowing games with satisfying loop shots, when you nail a few in a row great feeling  *%*
One thing that is not on there which I love is a great light show for jackpots etc. like HS2

I agree ktm, I did miss that one - good light show - sorry guys. How about we just count that as number 6 behind the top 5 items for what makes a good dmd - that should be a given.

Also sorry about the choice to be narrowed down to 5 items, makes a good poll though. Keep your votes coming in for all Jan 2012.

There is a reason for this poll but I will wait for the end results to bring that subject up.
