problem with the nail art kit is that the nozzle on the airbrush itself is very fine and as such may not be suitable for anything other than very thin inks. So long as the airbrush itself comes with a 3mm nozzle you should be OK.
pluses with these is that they use a continuous blower and you dont get the water build up that you do with a compressor. Minuses are that you may not get the pressure you require to spray paints.

There are better ways to get what you need - a 2.5hp compressor for $99 at supacheap will do you OK - this also comes with the hose and attachments. Then all you need is a DUAL ACTION  airbrush, dont go with a single action, dual allows you to adjust the paint flow also. I also dont like the grav feed airbrushes, they can be messy to work with if your paints are not thinned right. A suction fed allows you to take off the paint jar, adjust and reattach.

I got my airbrush plus 1.5mm and 2mm needles, air flow regulator etc for $89 off Ebay - is a great little brush, was sent from sydney and i had it within 2 days of purchase - look up ROYAL TINT. They do have an Ebay store.

This is the one i bought - great priced quality airbrush.
This and a $99 compressor and youve saved yourself $30

Gavin what type of paint do you use with the airbrush?  Or do you use art ink?  Only asking as I bought one of those kits some months ago, but haven't around to trying it out.

went to supa cheap and bought a $98 compresser,30ft hose inc
had to by a few adaptors,and coundnt help myself,
$22 on special,cheap air brush to play with
had a little go this arvo,amazing little tool...
will play around with this before i up grade and tackle anything serious.

Humpalot,

i use Pantone enamels with the airbrush which allow me to mix any RGB colour. Standard acrylics will clog the nozzle as the particles are too big - you will need airbrush acrylics if using these. Standard enamels work well also.

I also find that the 3mm nozzle ( i dont use any other) will spray clear coat well also, in fact better than my expensive touch up spray gun.

Mate, cant go past the 2.5hp compressor for a bargain - they used to be $350, but have come down dramatically in price. The 30M of hose you bought with it is worth nearly what you paid for the whole lot, just remember to bleed off the water in the compression chamber after use each time and youll be OK

sorry to ressurect an old thread but i'm interested in getting a kit so i can touch up playfields and dabble in the art as its always something i wanted to do. Any suggestions on how i can start cheaply as the links given above no longer apply.

Any tips/tricks would be appreciated
