The ultimate pinball fixit tool and I found it
« on: July 20, 2012, 04:17:20 PM »
Saw this thread on pinside under pinball repair tips and loved it. here it is

Here are a few handy pinball repair tips from the person who serviced my WH2o before I got it.

Stripped hole for wood screw: Squirt a little silicone caulking in the hole then jam the screw in. Then add a little more on top for good measure.

Broken Wire: Twist the two wires together and smear some silicone caulking all over it and let it dry.

Missing lock nut: just use a regular nut covered in silicone caulking.

Missing hex nut for coil stop: jam a piece of wood into the hole where the screw would go and fill with silicone caulking.

Broken off screw flush with surface: Cover with silicone caulking. It doesn't do anything but at least you can't see the broken screw.

Broken plastics: Turn the broken plastic over and use a popsicle stick and silicone caulking to repair the crack.

Broken Ramp: Silicone caulking.

These and other amazing repair tips were found while I shopped out my machine the other night....I hope they all come in handy.

I've got to get some Silicone caulking for my tool bag...I can't believe I've gone this long without it.

This is not an April fools joke....unbelievably it's all true.

So I think we can close the tech section at AP now and go out and buy a shit load of silicon  @.@

:lol :lol There must be something about WH20 and the excessive use of silicon as a repair agent. I played one last weekend in a food court which may have fallen to pieces save for the silicon! *%*  Even the rocky mountains didn't escape. They looked like they were snow capped there was some much on them.  #(&

Ive come across whole signs being held up with silicon alone as the mounting screws have rusted right out.

Some more tips for you...

A thin smear of silicon over a playfield overlay will make it last forever.

Seals backglasses like nothing else.

Small blob on chimes acts as a volume control

:lol :lol :lol :lol  Classic stuff  @@*

I'm yet to come across a game with silicone/caulking compound holding it together but i've heard of it being done a few times  *%*

I've seen coils held into broken brackets with insulating tape or duct tape though.. my Pinball Pool had this done to it  ^&^
Maybe I should keep some silicone in MY toolbox for when i go to do pin repairs  %.%

Classic.

Silicon and flaking backglasses, bet Nino hasn't tried that one.
