What are you playing now?
« on: July 02, 2012, 12:37:29 PM »
Hi Guys, thought I would post this topic as been getting into a couple of pins lately and was interested as to what other people are playing out there.

I was recently was lucky enough to get an Space Shuttle pin, am really getting into it and the family and I have been playing this with Pinbot side by side. I originally had an Space Station pin which was the follow up game and did like it but in this case the original is the best. What a blast. Pinbot and Space Shuttle are classic Williams pins.

Also and over the last couple of weeks been doing a bit of an clean up on the Space Shuttle as I go. Just cleaning the muck off the playfield, vacum the cabinet, new plastics (always put new plastics on pins if possible, easy) polish some metal bits etc. Also got an new space shuttle toy for it and boy what an improvement. The original was all yellowed and as fragile as egg shells. The new one is crisp white and made out of some kick ass robust plastic, pretty tough it appears. Think we are very lucky that there are people out there making new playfields, plastics, ramps and so on so we can follow our passion and keep our machines tip top.

However what I have learnt though is 1. am no good at painting 2. no patience 3. its too bloody cold in winter in the "office". Will fix point number three but points 1 & 2 are works in progress..

So what have been doing is making sure that no matter what I do on the pin just make sure that I can get it back together for an game that night. Does limit it somehat as to what I can do but it keeps it simple and the fun factor is high.
So the question is what pins are people getting into at this moment of time?

great thread.

playing a little bit on AC/DC Pro - but only apx half dozen games a week if that. its a bit too cold not to be on the lounge wrapped up in a nice warm blanket.lol

playing a little bit of Gilligans Island - A really fun game. Never met anyone who didnt enjoy the audio and fun dot matrix

playing a little bit of Congo - a real fun game with a great under playfield with the gorilla that smashes balls for points.

But, playing has slowed right down, there are a few great shows on Austar that I am just addicted to -
Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, Gold Rush, Storage Hunters, Real Auctions - all these geat shows are on the A & E channel 230.

I think when it gets warmer, more pinballs might get played by alot more pinheads.

So the question is what pins are people getting into at this moment of time?

Since the playfield swap to the new CPR playfield, Firepower has really occupied a lot of my playing time. I am really enjoying it, particularly now that a few flaws in the old field which would throw the ball off line etc are gone, and the gameplay is as originally intended.

I still nearly always finish a playing session with a game on either AFM, can't hardly leave the room without playing a game on that as well.

Havent played for 2 weeks... but APOLLO got a good work out recently and Amazing Spiderman is a blast to play... bought this from Nick (P4M) a few years back.. REALLY enjoyed the PF repaint and like playing this a lot. Ive only achieved a replay once... hit the very top target 3 times to light up LHS bastard shot... sounds easy, but its a bugger to get.. but it looks so cool when the red insert lights up and then 3 heavy Thwacks from the replay coil... great stuff!

Mostly playing CFTBL and , like Wotto, failing dismally trying to get a decent score let alone knock my daughter's high score off (475 mil) .
She hasn't played it in weeks and had a couple of games with me the other nite and of course thrashed me  *.*

Too cold in the garage to work on pins at the moment so my '65 Gotllieb Thoro Bred is still in pieces waiting for me to get back to it .

After that will be my CPR Firepower playfield swap.
I need more room ! and more $$$

Williams Blackout is getting a bit of a workout at the mo, nice early Williams talker with a great light effect for its day when Blackout was achieved.
Williams Alien Poker is always a favourite in the home and takes me back to my high school days when the wonder of modern electronics was still adding miracles such as speech and deeper rule sets as well as memory of game state between players to pinball machines.
Monster Bash is a family favourite and often gets an invite for me to join my 11 year old daughter in a game.
FirePower is waiting for a new play field to be installed as soon as summer rolls in.

My recently acquired Stern Galaxy has been getting a good workout lately  *%* great fun, fast playing game it is, reliving my earlier years in the old Pinball Parlor in Port Macquarie.

The previous owner, had clocked it a few times which i could never do when he had it, AND he had all the high scores and specials set to extra ball  @.@
I got the machine home and changed all the hi score & special settings back to replays and then beat his  best effort of about 1'220'000ish.. with about one and a half million.. then of course i just HAD to text him to rub it in  :lol :lol

Flash also has been getting played regularly lately, Its playing real sweet considering i havent and resto work to the pf as yet. I had a guy here who dropped off his Card Whiz to be worked on who just fell in love with Flash, and reckons he WANTS it real bad.. not sure if im ready to sell it yet.. or at all.. have to wait til its restored before i make up my mind  *%*

Avatar, my only pin at the moment. One game that would probably be disliked by 9/10 pinheads, but one i enjoy everytime i play it.
Adding heaps of extras to it at the moment. I would like to add an AC/DC pro next.

At the moment my Bally Party Zone, I think its a underrated game. Recently I updated the Roms to L3 so if the ball goes down the plug hole you will get it straight back.
Captain Bizzar is the host of this game with its twisting ramps, fantastic light show and a number of different sound tracks.
