Excuse my ignorance but I never played nor ave seen an avatar but wasnt it considered a flop. This is one title I would not have had any problems getting passed the wife but I heard very little interest in it. So if i am correct why the rerun?

Maybe we should rerun the Leyland P76

You really need to play a game and make your own decision, not let others decide for you. It doesn't get any love from many at all, but i enjoy the game.
Fair call  that's why i said my comments may be based on ignorance. Thanks mate

Because they are making two more movies does this mean that stern might be taking the easy way out and use the Avatar trilogy for their "answer" to the Hobbit?

They are deffinitely betting on a huge success at the box office.
I know of another company that lost on that punt with star wars episode one. Didnt prove a great movie and showed in game sales. I'm betting this won't be the case with avatar.

I wouldnt have thought Avatar had anything to do with Hobbitt.

Avatar is sci-fi and set in the future by a couple hundred years, whereas Hobbitt is fairytale/medi-evil magic from thousands of years ago. Two totally different styles of movies/genres.

I think Stern is simply announcing re-runs of past titles, and seeing if the market wants to order. It worked with Tron, it will probably work with Avatar and what ever else they still have the licence for.
Gary Stern did say he had looked at renewing the Lord of the Rings Licence recently.

Its probably a good way to fill in vacant spots in the production line perhaps whilst Stern may be waiting on stock/parts and final numbers for current titles like X Men or Avengers. If they have a 5 day slot available on the production line, its a great way to keep the factory rolling along with a quick 100 re-run machines.
It might also be a marketing ploy to keep taking the focus away from JJP, and it sort of shows that Stern has the ability to produce multiple titles at once, whereas JJP hasnt released a title to the public yet (excl a few operators).

I bet during 2013, Stern will announce more reruns to satisfy people/customers who want to purchase that favourite title that may have been played onsite, but the production had previously stopped. I reckon its a great idea.

*didnt star wars episode 1 sell 3525 units, still a pretty healthy number to keep the production floor happy for a considerable time. If Stern does those numbers today, they shld be v happy ?

No problems. If you enjoy Avatar the pinball, you'll be in the minority with me. It just doesn't appeal to most, but the overall package for me was worthy
of buying one. Having said that, i do have it up for sale on ebay, but only because i like to change the line up.

Typically the only reason Stern do reruns is because one of their large purchaser distributor customers has asked for it. My guess is it would be one from Europe as they sold well over there (comparatively speaking), since sales were not strong in the US (and with a bit of digging can still be found NIB from many US distribs.) This was the reason for the Tron rerun, anyway.

Over 90% of Stern sales to Europe are to operators (via their local distributors).

Other smaller distribs (including Aussie distribs) are notified and then piggyback off this run and put in an order for themselves to boost the numbers.

A company that goes full steam into announcing or making reruns without firstly assessing demand from their MAJOR buyers will end up with egg on their face (or losing a lot of money in wasted inventory).

Easy way out???? JJP isn't releasing Hobbit until 2014 by then Stern would have released maybe 4 or 5 more tittles.
