Is this the way to play pinball
« on: February 17, 2013, 01:31:15 PM »
I thought I'd go down memory lane and watch a pro play a game i have found memories of. I can see the purpose of maxing bonus etc but me personally would fall asleep playing like this.

http://pinball.org/videos/gameplay-videos/amazing-spiderman/

I could play a mean game of squash and played a guy once who just pussied every shot and kicked my asrse. I figured i could practice this technique but also figured i couldn't enjoy playing like this. Winning isnt everything i guess.

I play pinball to keep the flow going as best as i can and i try to make as many shots as possible, so I won't be any champion.

How do you play, do you study and practice money shots?

What did you think of the video, boring or interesting?

+1, I like watching those techniques to try and add them for important shots every now and then, but mostly I just want to flail around mindlessly having fun!

Oh man... thats a really boring way to play Amazing Spiderman.
I have this game and will remember the technique to rack up the bonus but its much more of a blast trying to hit top centre target 3 times and then hit LHS target... individual drops come up with bonuses also which are timed.

I didnt watch all the video... did anything happen?

I could only watch about 2 minutes of that before I started to fall asleep. I do like to practice and master the high paying shots on any game but you also have to have a crack at everything. If winning meant playing like that I rather loose and have some fun.

I don't think I could play like that, but it was pretty cool and interesting from a strategic side and at the same time would be boring for onlookers watching the game play for a length of time. As Gav said he didn't make to the end.

I've watched Greg play and he seems to keep the ball mainly on the lower quarter of the playfield a lot. Mainly that place in the bottom middle of the playfield where the balls live  %.%

You did well to make it to the 2minuite mark!

Lovely looking game though, never seen one in action before (  and some may argue I still haven't  %.%. )

Watched the whole thing, interesting. Once he maxes the bonus he goes on to play properly. The bonuses he gets reach over 100,000 each time!

One could say it is a bit like playing Asteroids and keeping a floater or two and blast away at the space ships every minute or so to rack up the points. But honestly it just doesn't seem to be the same as playing the game!

I suppose this is the differnce between playing competition pinball, and fun pinball.

If a new machine is on the line like they are nowadays, boredom is worth it. Maybe it's a fault of the code system that this is possible. I don't think you can play ACDC this way. Did you bore yourself winning the Qld comp Rob?
