My 5 dollar playfield rotisserie!!!!
« on: March 10, 2013, 12:48:20 AM »
Hi all, thought i'd post a couple of pics of the new pf rotisserie i just built.

As per the subject, this cost me bugger all to build (only about $5 for a few half inch & 5/16" bolts & nuts i bought to use for the pivot points and for the locking clamps so i can lock the jig into any position i need. I used angle iron from old bed frames i had lying around that i had saved when i moved back to the coast. I just measured and cut it all out with an angle grinder, then borrowed a MIG welder from my brother and basically re-learned how to weld  :D (i had dabbled with welding about 20 yrs ago when i was messing about with cars and then when i built my pinball trolley).

It aint pretty (yet!!) but its strong and will do the job. i will eventually grind it all smooth and paint it. I had need of a bigger jig as i have AP member 'howzat's Genie pf to do (pictured clamped into the jig) and it was too long to fit into my old timber constructed jig, (genie's pf is about 5 inches longer than a standard pf!!) I needed it built quick so i can start on Ian's Genie PF, so finishing off the jig will have to wait for now  *%*

All up it took me about 4 or 5 hours to build including time spent working out how i was going to swivel points and clamping bolts (easiest/quickest way i could do it that is)  :lol
I also plan on putting a plywood tray in the bottom to hold parts/tools etc.

BTW, it will hold standard size playfields as well just by sliding the pivot bolts inwards.

Seeing the level of your restoration work, it'll probably end up looking like a work of art, when it's painted.

Nice job.

Well i couldnt help myself.. i HAD to finish off the jig (couldnt stand looking at it unfinished)  :D

So i stripped it apart this afternoon, ground all of the welds smooth and stripped all of the old paint/rust from the metal and gave it a couple of coats of White Knight hammered metal paint. So now its a twenty dollar pf rotisserie  :lol

I also decided to add a plywood bottom panel underneath (since i had some laying around not being used)  thought it'd be a useful addition to store tools/pf parts etc.
The rotisserie will be placed on top of a trolley when in use so i can move the whole thing if need be.
