Calling all paint experts

Besides spray paint what is the best way of applying paint to cabinets - Brush(Type?),Roller(Type?) or any other applicators ?.

Spraying gives you a nice even original finish but a roller for the base coat would probably work just as well?

I used a roller out of all things on the Thoro-Bred and it turned out awesome!

I've only ever used a spray gun.

The main reason is that Dad has all the professional equipment and 30 years of spray painting experience !

I use methods similar to the factory, with overspray and underspray. Using a roller will look awesome, but it will not be authentic.

In the factory - they used a brass stencil and placed it against the cabinet (without touching it), and then simply sprayed the desired color - hence the imperfections. Gottlieb had the webbing and "Specs" to distract the imperfections.

I only used the roller on the base white - 2 coats and actually really liked the results.

Used spray cans for the colours and more than happy!

Only issue is with cans they only come in gloss but wouldn't have it any other way!

I noticed that - No more "Semi Gloss" colors in Bunnings !

We usually get our paint mixed at a "Paintmobile" store.

I've never tried anything other than spraypainting cabs, as far as im concerned its the only way to go

No semi gloss at bunnings wow you must have a special bunnings we are lucky to have any spraycans at my local lol.  (BLOODY KIDS)

Tony -Will have to come over before expo to see how the latest project is coming on.Just a note on that gloss look on your colours - as you are aware I am in the process of doing the transfer method on my Jumping Jack front cab (Will keep updates on this method) and noted when I clear coated the transfers I used Satin instead of Gloss & found they came out without the high gloss -maybe you do a final coat of the satin clear to remove that gloss.

      That also works with the Matt clear aswell
