One of my displays out of my newly aquired close encounters (thanks blair) was missing the last digit.I narrowed the problem to the display itself by changing it to a working position.
Clays guide says you can test the udn6118a using a diode test.both chips tested fine.I had a board with a known broken display (nipple broken on back) so i removed (desoldered the glasses and swapped the good glass into the broken ones board.All fixed.so clays test can be misleading.
I still do not know wich chip is faulty,if anyone can enlighten me on this it would be of benefit as i am led to believe these chips are hard to come by.P.S. i have 3 more broken disply boards,thanks to an unscoupulus seller in canada.
