Polish on mylar

Ive just aquired a 1979 Harlem globetrotters pinball.After spending approx 10 hours cleaning every nut ,bolt plastic and 20 years of grime off the playfield it has come up  a treat.What would be the best protection for a mylared playfield. Cheers Les.

I think just keeping your playfield clean will be enough.

To keep mylar clean - just spray some nifti onto a rag and clean the mylared areas. You can use Novus 2, but I don't really think it makes a huge difference.

Hi Les,

I generally use Nino's method to clean the playfield (if it is black etc...) but you must make sure it is 100% clean before using Novus etc...You don't want to be rubbing dirt back into it.

I have recently used a Treasure-Cove kit on my Police Force playfield - which had dull mylar.  It didn't make it look new, but I certainly got a reflection off it and is nice and smooth to touch.  I generally give a light buff with canubra wax as well.

Don't forget to either replace the balls or tumble them and ensure the ball tracks etc.. are clean or it will just get dirty again.

When I was talking to one of the guys at MarkC's, they said that they use nifti to clean the mylar and then the Novus 2, and I think once clean they gave it a light canubra wax.

So yeah, a bit of wax to finish it off should work nicely.
