PINBALL RESOURCE ORDERING
« on: April 14, 2009, 04:57:45 PM »
Hey Guys ive conacted the Pinball resource for the game rom for Rock but the payment options mean nothing to me which would be the easiest way to pay out of these methods?
1. bank draft
2. international money order (Canada...postal money orders are fine)
3. western union (if using, you must send to me as a PERSON rather than to us as a company, you should include your phone number and be careful to list our address correctly as the agent makes sure everything matches)
4. a US check, do you have a friend/associate here that can write a check on your behalf?
5. US currency, we have had good luck and this many times is the lowest transaction cost
6. Auctionchex.com -Accepts Credit Card and other forms of Payments!

International MO from your local post office looks to be the best bet there.

heres what you u do!

Email them the order first which they will quote shipping on it.
Go the post office and make up an international money order
wait a little while while they cash it and send the goods.

After your first order, they immediately create an account for you so that subsequent orders are sent with an invoice which you also pay via money order but dont have to pay until u recieve the goods. Pain in th arse to start with but they have been pretty good after that!

($13.50 for the money order  !!!)

Never used auctionchex - but I've been ordering from PBR for years using Money Orders.

Have you checked our sponsors for the spares you need, Daniel ?

I've tried a few payment methods in the past, but nowadays I send cash in a registed, international signed-for envelope, which is automatically insured up to a set value. If the payment is larger than that limit, then I send two lots. A pain in the whatsit whichever, if only they would take Paypal, life would be simpler! But, if you want pukka spares, then thats the place to go!

Then of course, I get another pain once my beloved Government hits me with all the various taxes, import duties, and whatever else they can find to take some more cash out of my pocket........ ^.^

I was very fortunate to have dinner with Donal Murphy a few years ago in Sydney while he was out here on holidays.

Donal is the guy that makes alot of Steve Youngs parts - especially all the plastic parts. His father owned Electrical Windings who made all the coils and transformers for all the pinball manufactures in the 1940s to 1990s.

I asked Donal why PBR didn't take VISA etc as payment and he said if they did they would need to raise their prices slightly and they didn't want to do that.

Still - sending an International Money Order off via Airmail is no big deal. Still the only place to buy pinball parts for vintage games

Its just very daunting for the first timer. But sound like its all sweet after the first one.   Its all posted off now so fingers crossed its all i need to get it going and out of my shed.     Best part about a money order is it doesnt show up on a credit card statement so i can spend what i like. Whoops did i say that out loud !*!

I've never lost a package in 8 years from PBR. Their service is great, and they have saved many Gottliebs from being parted out.

Hi Nino
There was never a doupt about the quality of Pinball Resource. Just the getting money orders and international posting from my end. Specially for a part that might not even get the pinball going lol.  So fingers crossed the game rom is all thats needed now to get it running again.
