Getaway Plunger
« on: April 23, 2009, 08:10:41 PM »
OK, I need some help from the Getaway owners.

Previously - from the plunger / ball shooter lane, the ball would always go around the freeway towards the top ramp / bumper area.

Since the rebuild it is now not even coming close.  It is constantly hitting the middle l/h/s targets only.

The coil was giving some suspect readings on ohms, so bought another from RTBB.  Better readings but still not shooting properly.

From reading on google, it is a common problem and most say due to alignment.

I have tried every which angle but no luck.

Voltages to both lugs are around the 74.5v DC.

Playfield is level and around the 6.5deg or so inclination.

Heeelp!

Fixed!    @@*

I spent about 2 hours today, changing the level of the machine, adjusting the angle of the shooter but nothing worked.  I tried playfield at 6deg, 6.5deg, 7deg nothing.  The ball continued to hit the middle targets.  I even checked all the transistors for the shooter, thinking it wasn't getting enough power...

THEN....brainwave.

From watching some videos of the designers testing on whitewoods, I was manually flicking the ball from the shooter lane with my fingers, different powers, angles and still not working.  This is when I thought it has to be something else.  Whilst staring at the metal wall ramp from the shooter lane, I noticed an adjustment for the top end (where the ball comes out) with a screw and long bracket for it (pictured).

Moved the bracket and perfect.  I searched and searched and couldn't find anywhere about this bracket so now I'm happy.

What was even better, I then cranked the playfield angle back to 6.5-7deg, glass back on then proceeded to get my highest score ever.  Two super jackpots, redline mania and without cheating with secret mania either!!

Old the old coil via the DMM I was getting 2.6ohm readings which aparently is too low so being its the shooter it deserves a holiday...

The new one reads about 3.1, 3.2 but these are aparently the biggest williams coils so not sure if the readings should be the same or not?
