One single dot out on display
« on: August 31, 2014, 09:35:08 PM »
I have just one single dot out on my AC/DC display and I am wondering why they would go out so soon, and if it will become progressively worse, can it be repaired and is it a difficult job?

Is it still under warranty ?

I have no idea why a new display would have one dot not working. A line or a row, I can understand - but I've never heard of a single dot.

This is the  LED display yes??
You either have a +ve or -ve drop out on the actual LED itself or a dead LED. If still under warranty, stern will replace it

Yes, you have a dead LED as Gavin suggests. Remember there are OVER 4000 of them making up the display - it's a simple numbers game.

These displays use 'blocks' of 8 x 8 LEDs from memory so they will repair it by replacing a block. Most likely they will offer a replacement (that has probably already been repaired).

Mine had the same prob according to the original owner (Tim) He told me he sent it to Beakie and he sorted it. No probs a year into my stewardship.

With 4000 components, it only takes 1 bad connection to cause a drop out
