The KISS project machine
« on: February 07, 2015, 10:50:58 PM »
Hi all,
My dad isn't a pinhead, but he enjoys restoring my pinball cabinet projects each winter. He's always wanted to get a KISS pinball one day and restore it (I'm all for it as well. haha). I read the American Pinside posts where project KISS machines come up a lot for reasonable dollars, but Australia seems to be devoid of projects and ebay is full of $10,000 restored machines. Is the project KISS machine an endangered species in Australia or is it a case of living in the country and missing out on these opportunities?

Cheers!
Adam.

KISS and Playboy rarely change hands as projects. Importers won't sell these as projects due to the fact they get serious coin for minimum effort as they are two of the most desirable and collectible Bally titles.

As most already know, the $10,000 "Best KISS in the World" with the overlays, incorrect cabinet colors, wrong legs and 40 year old capacitors is not worth the asking price.

The German Version is a lot easier to source, and much cheaper.

Yep, they do exist.

Picked these 3 up the other week.

Was from a bloke who i've known for quite a few years, he is an old technician and sent me a message out of the blue saying he needed some space and i could have first option.

Sent all the KISS boards away, a few new plugs, and is all working. Playfield has had mylar from day 1, but a few inserts are still cupped, and hence some small areas of wear around a couple. Actually is really fun to have an SS in the collection (first time for 5 years or so). Cab is pretty faded

TZ and STTNG have great playfields, but boards need some serious work. Cabs are pretty straight, but need new bases

Pretty fair deal all around - not a screaming bargain but realistic prices for the condition
