Williams Black Knight wiring colour code.
« on: January 25, 2019, 09:03:37 PM »

Hi Folks,
Like sum help with part of the wiring on my Williams Black Knight,,,, I will try and explain this the best way I can.
Last week my BK C.P.U. started having problems, I have a 9. on the c.p.u. board and one of the led's are on
Tells me the Cmos ram has gone bad or something else,,,
Anyway, I want to send the boards away to be repaired and refurbished so BK will be problem free.
But at the moment have a spare Rottendog board that's working and will run Black Knight for the moment till I get my boards repaired.
Here is my problem, I need the wiring code / colours and positions for J12 Special Solenoid's.
The previous owner did a hack with the Flipper Control relay as shown in pictures.

I want to rectify this problem so I can get the Rottendog board running 100% at the moment everything works but no flipper power.

And when my old boards are returned I will be able to plug and play,, no hacks.
On one of the pictures at J12 the first two pins are for flipper control, but pin 2. from the left has a Blue/Brown wire and I need to find out what this controls.

Hope this makes sense to someone   !@#

Thanks

2J/12

Top Pin
Dark Blue / Black stripe
Light Blue
Blue / Red Stripe
Blue / Yellow Stripe
Key
Blue / Red stripe
Blue / Orange Stripe
Orange / Gray Stripe
Orange / Black Stripe

Completely different to your J12. Photos turned out crap, so I've checked the wires themselves.

Ahh, thats grate, thanks so much.  :-)
I have a Williams Flash so I checked the wiring on that as its the same driver board.
So I have wired up a new connector to J.12 the same as Flash.
Will cross check it with what you have given me before I power it up.
Will let you no how I go.......

Black Knight back to life,,,   #*#
After restoring the wire hack and soldering up a new connector with the right colour coded wires in order BK is running like a dream.
This Rottendog board is only temporary till I get the original CPU and Driver boards refurbished.
After playing BK for a couple of hours last night I found the Rottendog board has sum minor faults in the programing, little thing like speech doing weird things or not saying anything it at all. Ran a diagnostic on the sound/speech boards and no faults,,, strange  !@#
I find the game runs better with the original boards in the game.
My Black Knight may not be in showroom condition but it does me and I learn a lot on how pinball electronics work.

And to Strangeways for his assistance, many thanks .

Pinball is a fun hobby, I probably get more enjoyment fixing them than playing pinball.....
