EM CHIMES & BELLS
« on: June 06, 2009, 02:02:07 PM »
I LOVE EM'S but am I the only EM pinball weirdo out there that turns OFF the chimes and bells on your collection ?  !^!
Constant ding ding ding ding ring ring one of your mates talking to you while your playing and I yell what did you say ? ^&^
Get 5 EM pin's in a row all playing at the same time now that can get noisy!
But what does sound great to me is hearing the stepper units, the score reels, bumper, relay chatter, solenoid bangs and a very loud knocker bang .
I can also here the music from the stereo better. *%*
So is it just ME ?

Nope - It's not "just you" !

I prefer them in games, but when they were operated, some sites asked for them to be removed or disconnected, as they were too noisy and disturbed the guys playing cards or whatever !

These days - it is not at all uncommon to see machines being sold without chimes for this very reason.

All the machines i have and sold i add a switch to the earth wire so you can simply turn them on or off best of both worlds.   But they do annoy the crap out of me sometimes but other times it just doesnt feel right without em

LOL!!! I wrap cloth over the strike arm to "flatten"the ring out a bit.
Replay "knocker" bell is never covered though - a guy deserves to hear his achievement

I don't know Greg, the heart beat of Gorgar getting faster or the low frequency of Flash or the music on Guns & Roses beats chimes for me !

Mark,

Shame on you  :lol

I adore the chimes and bells on EMs - sets them aside.

Had one of those games on Universe last night - 9 free games on the last 2 balls - was getting off on the sounds that 50 year old game was producing  :lol

Noticed after Expo though that after walking out at 11pm and driving home my ears were ringing (no pun) from the sounds of all those pins all day, was just like coming out of a gig and having the 'cicadas' ringing in your head

Don't you just through a slab of plasticine on the chimebars to kill the resonance??

I like GnR and cant remember Gorgars sounds. Chimes just dont get old or too loud for me.  *.*
