US postage and Marcospec
« on: July 31, 2009, 11:45:12 AM »
What is it with postage and the US. Asked for a quote on postage for two small ramp decals that would fit easily in a small envelope. Decals $7US total, postage $20US  ^&^. This can't be right. What do you reckon?

Email them and ask them to place the decals in an envelope. I used to do this quite often.

Marco is a bit infamous with OS orders and shppings

All US shipping now seems to have gone up quite substantially and moreso since they got rid of surface mail to OS destinations

This brings up a point i've been thinking about in recent weeks....

Perhaps, we should create a "placing an O/S order" thread, where everyone can submit their lists before one of us sends out a 'marco' order and save shipping for everyone.
The thread should be perhaps moderated by one person, preferably the one who places the order, while everyone else submits their funds to his paypal account which is then forwarded onto marco or whoever.....

If nobody else wants to do this, i'll put my hand up, as i have several things to order from O/S anyway, and happy for others to jump on my order.

There's no way i'm gonna pay $45us shipping for a $3 spring, i think we've all been thru that.

No doubt these orders will be delayed once we've all seen what the new containers have in them  *%*

I think that is a great idea Marty - I know I always back my orders up until I have a heap of thnigs to buy becuase shipping on 4 springs is just insane and can't be justified - particuarly when the next thing breaks and you need to order a further part

Great idea Marty,

Too late for me this time !!!

I ordered a gottlieb decagon pcb ($8.00 part), postage came to $45.00 US !!!!!!!!!
I emailed a whinge and they reduced shipping to $18.90 US, a lot better but still a bit steep I would think.

Cheers
Dave

I think it is a great idea !

Before going ahead with any overseas purchase, just be reminded that it is always best to ensure that the part(s) you are after are not already available from our sponsors.

Also be VERY careful that you don't exceed AUS$1000 INCLUDING Shipping for your items.

Yep, absolutely!
I'd *only* be placing orders once it was confirmed that our local guys didn't have it.
That's why i mentioned perhaps holding off for the containers next week, because it's probably all in there hehehehe.

Excellent idea Marty will be in that.

And as for the local suppliers, I'll be paying you a visit tomorrow Mark for a couple of things I forgot to get last week.

I recently ordered a set of led score displays including master display board and it cost me $40 US to ship them including insurance + track & trace.
and a pinbot translite which was $27 US with the same extras, I had a choice of paying $17 for the translite but this was without insurance & tracking.

I paid the extra for the insurance.
but these items are a bit bigger than a spring or flipper.
