warped plastics
« on: November 23, 2008, 10:44:46 PM »
Hi Guys

Doing some resto work on the lower playfield on my HH

the plastics were a bit warped, in the past on other machines i have put them in the oven to soften them

and press them flat between glass sheets, But the plastics on HH are to big to fit in the oven

so i thought i would set them up on a board with the glass on top of them and put them in the car

along the back window in the sun (read it somewhere), a couple hours baking in the sun, whipped them out

sat them on the bench with some weight on them until they cooled, and they came out perfectly flat.

anybody do it differently.

cheers Ian

I've tried the oven method, and once what you did, both worked well. Lately though I've become way more game, and use a heat gun on a low setting - just heat a bit, they curl worse usually, then flatten out. Couple of books for an hour to cool, and your done!

The baking in the sun is good, but when you live down south, you only get the chance a couple of months a year!

Yep, like Nick said, the heat gun, I use a med/high heat, the warp more the settle down flat, sandwich between some glass and weigh down for 10 mins all done!
