Cactus Jack's - elation and disappointment
« on: October 16, 2009, 10:02:26 PM »
Hmm, now I know what happens when you clock a Gottlieb System 3.

The score rolls over and you DO NOT get a high score.

* Getting to 99 million and then clocking the score - elation!

* Finding out it doesn't count as a high score - disappointment!

And did anyone notice that half the IPDB photos of Cactus Jack's were contributed by MarkC?

My new mission is to get as close to 99,999,990 as possible - tilt will be used if required!

I am guessing that if you clock it and then pass the credit score you will get a second credit for that; I am yet to get up to 7x bonus so I still have that to aim for as well.

I would adjust the settings to make the game harder but the kids like it as is.

i never had that problem with my system 11 wms pins(with the 4 seperate diisplays), they just clock over to 0,000,000 then when you get to the end of the game it shows up as 9,999,999 or 9,999,990.
and the 11b and 11c systems seem to just add an extra digit, but i have never got over 50,000,000 on the system 11's with only 2 displays. even the earlyer wms pins with sytem 7 clock over and give you all the 9's for a high score when you finish.

to memory the early bally's clock over and show as 99,950 or similar as a high score after you finish you game

Yeah, I swapped the Mousin' Around for it; I didn't think I would be moving it on but Cactus Jack's looked really interesting and I did the trade with Dave (Silverball). So if I am desperate to play the Mousin' Around I guess I can always invite myself around!!!

I have now discovered that rotating pins is a good thing! So am looking to trade Dirty Harry now - or sell it and buy something else. I have had a couple of interested parties; we'll see what happens.

Good Trade methinks - for the both of you. CJ is a VERY interesting title and I'm sure the kids will love it.

Yeah, I really enjoyed Mousin' Around! but it was pretty unforgiving for the kids - especially if you hit the centre targets flush on. Then again Cactus Jack's has some shots that are designed as death shots if you miss them slightly - to get a high score I avoid these and use the alternatives. And Cactus Jack's does have a ball save feature if you don't score any points, I think.

The two machines were in pretty similar condition except the plastics on Mousin' Around! were a bit more warped.

Glad you are having fun with the Cactus Jacks, that was mine and I did the resto on it before I traded it for the Prototype Guns N Roses with Silverball (+plus cash).

My kids loved the machine to bits, and it never let me down once

Cheers Angelo

Yep, it is working well - haven't even lifted the playfield yet!

Might have to soon, though, as the 1x bonus light is out.
